Working with youth and movement
I love working with young movers. Here is one example of a past summer filled with inspiring young dancers.
Over the summer of 2018 I deeply enjoyed choreographing on middle and high school dancers. Working with youth always inspires me and feeds my ongoing conversation between teaching dance and choreographing. In June, I traveled to North Carolina to do a short, intense residency with Sara Geffert at North Carolina Governor's School West Campus setting a section within a larger evening of work. NCGS attracts rising high school juniors and seniors from across the state for a diverse, collaborative learning experience. In Milwaukee, I had the joy of working with Danceworks Youth Performance Company creating two works, Chop, Stir, Feel. and on the horizon. In the studio with DYPC we took two approaches to the process one working with set material and another asking them to find and develop parts of their own choreographic skill set and voice.
.....Future projects are being brewed now! Stay tuned and check back often.
