ABT Summer Intensive 2020
Summer 2020 has been unique for everyone. While I am eager for clarity and safety inside the pandemic so we can return confidently and openly to in studio practices, I am also grateful for the opportunity to return to teaching for American Ballet Theater Summer Intensives as a Body Conditioning Instructor via online platforms.
At this point in my teaching career it’s hard to determine which I love more dancing and moving or working with dancers and elite movers. It lights me up with passion to grow someone’s body awareness, strength and healthy alignment in a way that empowers them to do what they love while understanding their own individual facility more deeply.
I look forward to seeing you in the studio again soon and until then I will lap up the joy of practicing with you online.

Technique CLINIC - Deep Dive Edition- with Justin Tornow
This Technique Clinic Workshop is a deep-dive version of the weekly drop-in series at ADF this summer. We are offering it on a wide sliding scale $10-$40 -- if you're interested, we want you to come! FB event is here.
This session will be co-taught by Justin Tornow and Julia Edwards. The practical frame for the class is Cunningham Technique*, and will be centralized around concepts designed to increase understanding of dance alignment and movement execution. As we move through the Cunningham sequences, we will support the practice by breaking down and analyzing concepts, discussing the logistics of movements, and engage in supportive somatic exercises to increase awareness within the action.
This workshop is meant to provide an even deeper-dive into fundamental movement concepts, so that we can deconstruct, analyze, and uncover the functional movements and pathways that support healthy alignment and safe execution.
In other words, TIME TO NERD OUT.
*It is not required that the dancers or the co-teacher have a background in Cunningham Technique! It is a fantastic frame for this work because it is straight forward and based in efficiency and economy of movement. And since it shares a vocabulary with other western movement forms like ballet, various modern styles, and contemporary, dancers and somatic practitioners with a dance background of any kind will be able to jump right in!

NELKEN Line: MKE
Join Pina Bausch's fans and people all over the world as we perform the NELKEN-Line in Milwaukee! We will video our work and it will be shared to the Pina Bausch Foundation website, joining videos shared by others that have now performed the choreography all over the world during this year long global project.
Communities across the world celebrating Pina's movements and giving everyone—no matter their age, language or ability—a chance to feel her iconic choreography in their own body.
Milwaukee Dance Theater Network invites everyone to join the NELKEN-Line:MKE !
No dance experience is required. Participants learn the four gestures on site from MDTN site managers Julia Edwards and Posy Knight. Participants will then perform the gestures in an outdoor parade at each site while being filmed by MDTN’s Christal Wagner, who has a keen eye for filming dance with perspective and depth. The video will be edited and shared on the Pina Bausch Foundation website by June, 2018.
Participants are welcome to perform at one or both sites. Registration is requested (see below).
Please arrive right on time, wearing comfortable clothing and accessories for the weather. We will film in warm weather and light rain. Please bring water, footwear and umbrellas as appropriate.

ON DISPLAY Performance at Haggerty Museum of Art
ON DISPLAY/Milwuakee is a community-based movement meditation originated by NYC's Heidi Latsky Dance to be performed on Sunday, Dec 3rd-International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This site-specific instillation involves 20 movers and non-movers in every form in a slow motion dance that is interrupted by moments of stillness so the audience can feel comfortable looking deeply as the performers release self-consciousness.
